God's Princess

Inspiration

I wrote “God’s Princess” as a happy, very nerdy homage to Baldur’s Gate 3, one of the best story experiences I’ve had in years. I spent a ridiculous number of hours with Shadowheart as my favorite companion, and her journey stuck with me: the mix of darkness, tenderness, stubborn survival, and that slow reclaiming of self. The song is my way of bottling that vibe into a fantasy ballad, with moonlight romance on the surface and questions about faith, identity, and choice underneath. It’s basically me saying: “thanks for the hours, the feelings, and the character writing”.

Lyrics

You came with dusk behind your eyes a relic close and cold
A vow you'd bite your tongue to keep a truth they never told
By campfire light I watched you watch my hands so still so sly
And when I didn't reach for you I felt your shoulders sigh
You leaned in close half thorn half smile share a bottle
A cautious laugh a guarded spark a heart kept hard and brittle
But in the dark you let it slip like prayer turned into art
Truly connect you whispered low then hid it in your heart

Sing sing for my girl of night
For the blade that trembled before the rite
Perfect night the shadows croon
But I'll keep you safe by a gentler moon
Hold fast hold fast when gods demand
Love is the mercy of a steady hand

Where cursed winds worry dying trees you walked like you belonged
Yet every step grew heavier each hymn a harsher song
A flower bloomed where no one looked you cupped it like a proof
It won't last you smiled at me and kissed that fragile truth
The trials called the mirror watched the spear sang be my knife
And all the doctrine in your bones begged for blood to buy you life
Then in the black where fate held breath the captive light was near
I said nothing only stayed and you lowered down the spear
I heard you laugh like breaking ice then something soft confessed
They raised me up as God's princess you breathed but not at rest
So take my hand not as a chain but as a choice you make
Now and always you said to me and night began to break

Sing sing for my girl of night
For the blade that trembled before the rite
Perfect night the shadows croon
But I'll keep you safe by a gentler moon
Hold fast hold fast when gods demand
Love is the mercy of a steady hand

In the city's throat old sorrow woke in stone and bitter prayers
A matron dressed in holiness a chapel built of snares
You found the truth they stole from you not symbol not command
But two frail lives still waiting there still reaching for your hand
You shook like winter in a storm and tried to turn away
I don't deserve to be their child not after what I'm made
The night hissed close let go be clean be free erase the scar
But you chose the harder kind of love and I loved you more for that
The mark still burned the goddess spat the cost was written deep
Yet under moonlight's quiet gaze you finally learned to keep
And later laughing like a dare you promised soft and true
Rustic cottage lots of animals and always room for you

Sing sing for my girl of night
For silver hair and wounded light
My God's princess if names can heal
Let grief be faced let hope be real
Hold fast hold fast the dawn is near
Love is the choice that stays sincere
